SOPHIA: Indonesian Journal of Feminist Studies upholds publication ethics and academic integrity throughout all stages of the publication process. The journal’s ethical policies are formulated with reference to the Guidelines on Good Publication Practice issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Author Ethics
Authors are required to have made substantive contributions to the conception of ideas, analysis, and writing of the manuscript. Authorship status and contributor roles must be agreed upon from the outset. Each author is responsible for the content of the article and for compliance with the journal’s guidelines and policies.
2. Editorial Responsibilities
Editors make decisions regarding manuscript acceptance based on scholarly quality, originality, clarity, and alignment with the journal’s scope. Assessments are conducted objectively and without discrimination regarding research outcomes, and are carried out through a peer-review process. Manuscript confidentiality is maintained until a final decision is reached.
3. Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers provide professional, objective, and accountable evaluations aimed at improving manuscript quality. Manuscript confidentiality must be strictly maintained, and the substance of the article may not be used without the author’s permission. Any suspected ethical violations must be reported to the editor.
4. Quality Assurance
The journal conducts periodic evaluations of the peer-review process and publication timelines. The appointment of reviewers is the editor’s prerogative, with or without consideration of author recommendations.
