PLAGIARISM POLICY
SOPHIA: Indonesian Journal of Feminist Studies adopts a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. Plagiarism is understood as the appropriation of another person’s ideas, processes, results, or words without proper acknowledgment.
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal. Any verbatim material must be clearly distinguished from the original text through indentation, quotation marks, and proper source identification. The use of textual or visual material exceeding fair use limits (more than two sentences or their equivalent) requires permission from the copyright holder and appropriate source acknowledgment.
All submissions are screened using Turnitin Originality Check. Editorial decisions are based on the following similarity thresholds:
-
Similarity Index above 40%: the manuscript is rejected and not eligible for resubmission.
-
Similarity Index between 15% and 40%: the manuscript is returned to the author for revision.
-
Similarity Index below 15%: the manuscript may proceed to peer review, although citation improvements may still be required.
In cases requiring revision, authors must carefully revise the manuscript by improving citations and appropriately paraphrasing sourced content. These guidelines also apply to self-plagiarism; any reuse of previously published text or figures must be clearly identified and properly referenced.
Misuse of Generative AI
Manuscripts that, based on the editor’s assessment, indicate unethical or inappropriate use of generative AI—such as the replacement of the author’s scholarly work, fabricated references, or inconsistent and non-academic argumentation—will be rejected outright without being sent for peer review.
