Among the many issues within the social order, one of them concerns the position of women in society. This issue refers to the subordinate status of women that exists in almost all social relations. In other words, women’s position within social structures is often placed in the second class, while men occupy the first class position. This inequality can be observed through leadership structures within social systems, which have historically been dominated by men. This study aims to deconstruct hegemonic and colonial narratives regarding women through the text of 1 Timothy 2:11–15. The text of 1 Timothy 2:11–15 needs to be reread through a postcolonial feminist approach as an effort to advocate for women’s leadership. This research employs a qualitative method using a postcolonial study approach to critically examine the text of 1 Timothy 2:11–15. This approach seeks to dismantle forms of hegemony and restrictions imposed on women’s positions within social structures. The text of 1 Timothy 2:11–15 should not be understood as a prohibition intended to restrict women’s participation, particularly when interpreted in light of women’s contemporary social realities. Through the analysis of 1 Timothy 2:11–15, this study finds that the text is no longer relevant as a theological basis for prohibiting women’s involvement in leadership. Furthermore, the author emphasizes that faithfulness to biblical texts does not lie in literal application and interpretation, but rather in interpreting the texts contextually and responsibly.
